"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
It doesn't matter if you're sharing Valentine's day with a significant other or not - really, that's not even what it should be about. We were shown the greatest act of love that has ever taken place in the history of the world.
"For God so LOVED the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
I like what the video says at the very end "Love is just a word...until someone gives it a meaning." Christ did that for us; He showed us "love" as an action. He came to a world where they denyed Him, spit on Him, tortured Him, and finally murdered Him. And His last words on the cross were "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do"(Luke 23:34). If that's not true love, I don't know what is.
Jesus came to this earth to show us what real love was. His ultimate act of sacrifice changed the face of this earth forever; we will never be the same. He started a LOVE REVOLUTION. It is my prayer that you look at Valentine's day in a different way this year. If you're dating/or married, it's not about getting the perfect present, about chocolate or fancy cards. If you're single, it's not about self-pity or loneliness. I challenge you to think about true love; the love that Christ has shown us - a love that transformed our world forever.
Thanks for sharing the verses and video... we all need the reminder of what true love is(especially as single girls that get caught up in trying to find "love" in other places)
ReplyDeleteMay we seek Christ as the source of all love, and may we rest in His love first and foremost :D
